Local husband and wife team Sharon and Michael Perez are following their passion of helping others receive a higher standard of care, by opening BrightStar Care, a homecare and medical staffing agency. This new business will provide a range of compassionate, companion and person-centered care to people of all ages, from infants to seniors in the safety and comfort of their homes.
Prior to owning BrightStar Care, Sharon Perez spent nearly 35 years in the healthcare fields of radiology, ultrasound and hospital administration, practicing under the principles of compassion and care. Sharon’s passion for helping people physically, as well as emotionally lead her to complete her Master of Divinity. Sharon’s wealth of knowledge traces back to her many years living abroad in Costa Rica as a full-time Medical Missionary as well as raising her children while serving in a hospital at the edge of the Amazon Rainforest in Ecuador, South America. Sharon received her Master in Social Work at the University of Southern California.
Michael Perez comes to BrightStar Care with more than 30 years of experience in sales management. After experiencing first-hand the physical and emotional toll family caregivers experience while providing care, the Perez’s decided to open a BrightStar Care location to use their drive and experience to help others who were struggling with providing care for loved ones. “Being able to provide local families with reassurance that their loved ones are in good hands during a time of incredible need is what’s most important to us,” said Sharon Perez, co-owner of BrightStar Care Santa Barbara. “At BrightStar Care, we put a great emphasis on considering the needs of the entire family and take a holistic approach to bringing comfort and peace of mind with compassionate and high-quality home care.”
In order to provide the highest standard of care possible, BrightStar Care Santa Barbara is also looking to hire exceptional and passionate caregivers to fill its open positions. BrightStar Care conducted third-party research showing as families seek quality in-home care for their aging loved ones, the most important factors they consider include having a compassionate caregiver they can trust, somebody who understands the unique needs of their loved one, and having qualified, skilled medical professionals overseeing the care. However, the lack of clinical quality standards within the local and national private duty in-home care sector, combined with the public’s lack of knowledge of the industry, can make it challenging for local families confronted with the need for care or professionals looking to select a trustworthy service partner.
BrightStar Care Santa Barbara offers a myriad of comprehensive services that meet the highest industry standards and will be working with residents to educate them on the right questions to ask when searching for an in-home care provider for a loved one. Further setting them apart from local home care providers, the BrightStar Care of Santa Barbara’s Director of Nursing Christine Olsen, RN, creates unique, personalized plans of care for each client and oversees a professional care team of well-qualified, experienced caregivers to deliver expert, compassionate, and personal care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
With over 12 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, Olsen joins BrightStar Care of Santa Barbara with a combination of clinical knowledge and strong interpersonal skills. Adept at putting patients at ease and building a relationship built on trust and confidence, Olsen is passionate about treating patients with respect and dignity, while delivering excellent medical care and guidance. The national BrightStar Care franchise received The Joint Commission’s Enterprise Champion for Quality award and is committed to having each of its agencies comply with Joint Commission standards. BrightStar Care of Santa Barbara is part of a national network of over 300 individually owned and operated private duty home care and medical staffing franchise that provide medical and non-medical services to clients within their homes, as well as supplemental care staff to corporate clients.
