With a successful background in marketing and operations, he brings the knowledge and can-do attitude to thrive in this space.
Built on Family Values
Richard has always been surrounded by people who dedicated their lives to helping others.
His mother was a special education teacher, and his father spent his career as a social worker for the state. Growing up, he watched both of them work tirelessly to serve their communities while demonstrating the value of compassion, hard work, and integrity.
“Watching my parents dedicate their careers to helping other people had a huge impact on me. They showed me what it means to serve your community, and that's something I've always wanted to carry forward,” Richard said.
Professionally, Richard earned a degree in marketing before starting his career with Delta Air Lines and later building his skills at an advertising agency. Along the way, he developed a strong operational mindset and really enjoyed the analytics side of business. While developing his skills, he always had a feeling of wanting to own his own business one day.
Learning Through Hardship
Richard’s passion for home care started young when he watched his mom care for her aging parents.
His grandfather was diagnosed with cancer, and his grandmother developed dementia. Richard watched his mother take on the role of primary caregiver to both her parents. Managing appointments, coordinating care, and balancing the needs of two aging parents quickly became a full-time responsibility.
Seeing that experience firsthand opened Richard's eyes to the importance of quality home care.
He saw how valuable it is for families to have trusted support, not only for those receiving care but also for the loved ones providing it.
He explained, “Once we got caregivers for both my mom's parents I really saw the benefit the industry brings to families. The appointments, the coordination, the emotional weight. That's when I realized how important quality home care can be for an entire family.”
That experience planted the seed for what would eventually become his next chapter.
Bringing Care Closer
When Richard started exploring franchise opportunities, he knew he wanted to go into a service-based brand, and BrightStar Care stood out immediately.
He recognized the opportunity to combine business ownership with meaningful community impact.
In many neighborhoods throughout the Southwest Atlanta area, Richard saw that families often had to travel significant distances to access quality care.
“What I noticed in my community was a real need. Families shouldn't have to travel across the city to access quality care. They deserve those services where they live,” Richard shared.
By opening a BrightStar Care franchise, Richard hopes to make high-quality home care more accessible and create opportunities for families to receive the care they need in their homes.
More than meeting the demand, he wants to ensure his community has access to care that every family deserves.
