When Jarod Cannicott transitioned out of the corporate world, he wasn’t chasing a passion project, he was building something sustainable, scalable, and rooted in purpose. What started as a strategic business acquisition in his home state has evolved into a thriving multi-territory operation with a growing impact across Oklahoma.

From the Corporate World to Community-Driven Care

Jarod’s professional background includes nearly two decades in engineering, software, and the energy sector. “I worked for a software company in the power trading space for about 10 years,” he states. “Eventually, I got to the point where I realized I had made these companies millions of dollars, and while I was paid well, I wasn’t seeing the return I wanted for the effort I was putting in.”

That realization sparked Jarod’s desire to transition from corporate contributor to business owner. He had already acquired minor stakes in a few small businesses, but he was ready to take full ownership of something with long-term value.

“I wasn’t necessarily looking for home care,” Jarod admitted. “I was looking for a resilient, service-based business that wouldn’t be disrupted by AI or big tech. When I found a BrightStar Care resale opportunity in my area, it checked every box, and after meeting the owner, I felt confident in the opportunity.”

A Strategic Resale with Room to Grow

While exploring business ownership opportunities in his hometown, Jarod came across a BrightStar Care resale in Edmond, OK. In 2021, Jarod acquired two BrightStar Care territories in the Oklahoma City metro area. Just three years later, he expanded again, first into additional Oklahoma City territories, then into Tulsa, giving him control of all major metropolitan markets in the state. Today, he operates five official BrightStar Care locations, serving them as one integrated agency, with no plans to slow down.
